What is the mystery here?
One of my new readers asked me in an email, “What’s the mystery in Dog Leader Mysteries?”
I have many more Dog Leader Mystery stories. More than I publish on this blog. Those stories are in my novel, Red Sky at Night: Dog Leader Mysteries. Note: This link leads to my mystery on iUniverse.
Keeping Secrets?
Having written at least a million words in my first nine drafts of book one, I should stop being so secretive about my characters and setting. I have written and published over 500 posts on this blog. Because I’m a storyteller and want to learn what readers want. I’m writing a thread of Dog Leader Mysteries stories, some humorous, some mT.
A Taste from ACT I Chapter I
Nevada pressed her knuckle to her lips. Something’s wrong, and Dad won’t tell me. But I can’t accuse him of lying because he changes the subject when I ask about the fire investigation.
She bent over and whispered in her dog’s ear. “You’ll help me. It’s not my fault, I’m only twelve.” Nevada stood and snapped on her dog’s leash. Henry rubbed her knee with his black-and-silver Keeshond fur.
“Dad, we’re going for a walk before it gets dark.”
Secretly, I can’t wait another minute for news. Luckily, the best town news guy is only three minutes away. Once outside, we leave at gallop. By the time we stop at Hartes’ Hardware, my dog Henry and I are thirsty from panting. Then I fear my Uncle Charlie won’t help me. But he’s got to.
