Writing on this topic for the first time gave me much to chew on. I revised four times, and even cut my 3rd draft in half. After cutting, it grew again to about 1.300-words!

Wow. Turns out I had a lot to say.

If you read this blog, you know I’m not usually verbose.

After benefiting from two successful and long-running critique groups, I had far more to say than I ever dreamed. I even included three cautions for those who have never been in such a group before. I boiled down single essential element I felt helped myself and dozens of other writers who worked in the group with me. Each time I helped to start or organize a critique group I repeated that recipe for success.

She retired from her career in the police force so she knows her stuff. I met Hevron in our Redwood Writers Club. We have never had the pleasure of sharing a critique group-yet.
