Does she look happy?
On this afternoon outside a library, for about ten minutes, I watched this dog. Young and healthy, she never sat for more than a few seconds, pacing and always peering at the library door. Then the most relieved expression burst upon her face. Her person came out and untied the dog. She stopped vocalizing and pacing then, gratefully, left with her person.
From the dog’s point of view, I think those ten minutes felt like hours. She didn’t seem sure her person would return.
I thought she was singing, “Please come back. Come back soon!”
